Course Overview
Learn how to produce a podcast in a school setting, from planning and recording to mixing and presenting. This course guides you through capturing clear audio, adding music and effects, and developing your on-air presence. You’ll gain hands-on experience creating episodes that sound polished and professional, while building confidence to share your stories and ideas with an audience. Along the way, you’ll also learn how to manage live audio cues and keep your production flowing smoothly.

How You’ll Learn
- Interactive lessons, video based resources
- Explore and practice using sound mixing tools in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)
- Hands-on practice presenting and recording podcasts
Assessment Tasks
- Present and record 3 podcasts:
- Recorded podcast episode with 2 live mics & an external sound source
- Live stream using to at least assessor with 2 live mics (can use zoom / facetime / teams etc)
- Timed execution of an audio cue sheet for a live radio play, including music, sound effects and dialogue (in Soundtrap or your chosen DAW)
- Complete quizzes to demonstrate your understanding
Duration
Depending on your level of existing skills and knowledge, we recommend that you allow 18 – 22 hours to complete this course. The course must be completed within 3 months of the enrolment date.
By the end of this course
- Produce, stream and record podcasts with confidence
- Understand workflows for basic sound mixing in a DAW
- Apply practical skills to plan, record, and deliver professional-quality podcasts
- Upon successful completion, receive a Statement of Attainment for CUASOU214 Mix sound in a broadcasting environment, from GEM College (RTO 0366). and your digital badge from Music EDnet
